This 1978 International Harvester Scout II was refurbishment in 2021.

Work included a repaint in orange, replacing and refinishing the brightwork, reupholstering the tan interior, rebuilding the fuel-injected 304ci V8 and three-speed automatic transmission, replacing the exhaust system, and installing 15″ Mickey Thompson wheels.

The 304ci V8 was rebuilt by Hunt’s Machine in 2018 and is equipped with Hamilton fuel injection that was installed by Super Scout Specialists.

The following components were replaced during the refurbishment: Oil sending unit, Fan shroud and clutch, Battery, Drive belts, Radiator hoses, Air conditioning, Alternator, Thermostat, Spark plugs and ignition wires, Exhaust system.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case.

The transmission, transfer case, and rear axle have been rebuilt, and the suspension and axle components were powder coated black during the refurbishment.

The transmission cooling lines were replaced in 2020, and the rear axle wears a Scout-branded cover.

An oil change took place in preparation for sale.

The truck have been refinished in orange during the refurbishment in addition to having the bumpers and trim re-chromed.

Additional exterior details include a removable white hardtop, a roof rack, flared wheel arches, and dual exhaust outlets.

The wiper arms were replaced in December 2020.

Chrome 15″ Mickey Thompson wheels are mounted with Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ P3 white-letter tires.

The front axle is equipped with Warn manually-locking hubs, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

Service completed in 2020 included the replacement of the following: Front wheel bearings and seals, Rear wheel cylinders, Brake master cylinder, Brake booster, Front calipers, pads, and rotors, Rear drums and shoes, Brake hoses, cables, and lines.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench re-trimmed in tan vinyl with white piping in addition to matching door panels and a body-color dashboard.

Appointments include front and rear lap belts, a center console with cup holders, air conditioning, and an aftermarket Kenwood stereo paired with a 400 watt amplifier and subwoofer.

The wiper delay switch, window regulators, heater box, heater core, and blower motor were replaced in December 2020.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a horizontal 100-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature, amperage, oil pressure, and fuel level.

The five-digit odometer shows 94k miles, the speedometer head was replaced in December 2020, and total mileage is unknown.
