This 1970 International Harvester Scout 800 is finished in two-tone silver and blue over a blue vinyl interior and is equipped with a removable roof, a roof rack, a roll cage, fog lamps, and a digital media receiver.
Power is provided by a rebuilt 232ci inline-six mated to a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.
The 232ci AMC-sourced inline-six came equipped with a one-barrel Carter carburetor and was rated at 145 horsepower and 215 lb-ft of torque when new.
A rebuild of the engine at Caico’s Auto Repair in February 2016 consisted of boring the cylinders, machining the cylinder heads, grinding the crankshaft, and performing a valve job along with the replacement of internals including the pistons, the rod and main bearings, the camshaft, the lifters, and the timing gears.
Other replacements included the water pump, the thermostat, the front exhaust pipe, the ignition wires, the spark plugs, and the battery cables, along with the distributor cap, rotor, and points.
The oil was changed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a floor-shifted three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.
The clutch disc, the pressure plate, and the release bearing were replaced at the time of the engine rebuild.
The truck underwent a repaint in Aristocrat-style silver with blue accents, the removable Traveltop features sliding side windows and a stainless-steel roof rack and is underpinned by a full roll cage.
Other equipment includes “Aristocrat” fender badges, Hella fog lamps, dual mirrors, a rear step bumper, and a ball hitch.
Chrome-finished 15″ rally-style wheels including a tailgate-mounted spare wear BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires installed in June 2021.
Other service at that time included replacement of the front brake shoes, drums, and wheel bearings.
The cabin features front bucket and rear bench seats upholstered in pleated blue vinyl with a matching carpeted dash cover, body-color doors, and replacement black carpeting.
Three-point retractable seatbelts are fitted up front, and a pair of Sparco four-point harness are installed in the rear.
An AM radio is mounted in the dash, and a Kenwood digital media receiver with a front USB input is located in the glovebox.
A two-spoke steering wheel wearing an aftermarket blue wrap fronts a two-tone painted dashboard housing a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage.
