This 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T was sold in February 1971, and is powered by a 440ci E86 V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.54:1 Dana 60 rear axle.
Finished in Plum Crazy Metallic over white upholstery, and subsequently underwent a multi-year refurbishment including engine and transmission overhauls as well as refinishing the body and refreshing the interior.
Equipment includes power steering, front disc brakes, 15″ Rallye wheels, a rim-blow steering wheel, a wood-trimmed Hurst pistol-grip shifter, and a push-button AM/FM radio.
The car was stripped, coated with catalyzed primer, prepped, and refinished in its factory shade of Plum Crazy Metallic (FC7) during the refurbishment.
The black vinyl top was replaced with a white vinyl top, and a white hood stripe and tail stripe were added.
Hood tie-down pins, racing mirrors, quadruple exhaust finishers, and a rear “Go Wing” are additional exterior elements.
The 15″ staggered-width Rallye wheels wear polished trim rings and white-letter BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires that measure 235/60 up front and 275/60 out back.
A space-saver spare is stowed in the trunk with a can of inflator and a jack.
Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums.
The factory black vinyl was replaced with white upholstery supplied by Legendary Auto Interiors Ltd.
A replacement headliner, dashboard pad, center console, door panels, and carpets were installed in addition to a push-button AM/FM radio.
Replacement cushions for the high-back front bucket seats and a replacement bezel and pistol grip for the Hurst shifter were installed.
The rim-blow steering wheel frames a Rallye instrument cluster with woodgrain trim surrounding a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a chronometer, and a clock as well as a combination gauge for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amperage.
The cluster wiring was repaired and the gauges were reconditioned during the refurbishment.
