This 1970 AMC Rebel Machine was subsequently refurbished. Finished in white with tri-color stripes over black vinyl upholstery, the vehicle is powered by a 390ci V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes mag-style 15″ wheels, front disc brakes, dual exhaust, a functional hood scoop, a hood-mounted tachometer, a Hurst shifter, and an AM radio.

The Machine received a 390ci V8 rated at 340 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque when new. This car’s engine is said to have been rebuilt during the refurbishment, and features include a blue-painted block, Machine-specific intake and exhaust manifolds, a replacement Holley carburetor, and a later-model voltage regulator. The radiator was rebuilt.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt T-10 four-speed manual transmission.

The Rebel was American Motors Corporation’s mid-size offering, and the top-of-the-line two-door hardtop model for 1970 was the one-year-only Machine edition. Production for the Rebel Machine was limited to 1,936 examples (or 2,326 units, depending on the source), the first 1,000 of which are said to have been finished in white with blue hoods and rocker-panel treatment as well as red, blue, and white striping. Other features include chrome bumpers and trim, quadruple headlights, a functional hood scoop with an integral tachometer, “The Machine” badging, a driver-side mirror, and dual exhaust exits. Rust repair was performed and this car was repainted during a body-on refurbishment.

Mag-style 15″ wheels have been refurbished and are mounted with 205/60 Antares Ingens A1 tires. A space-saver spare is stowed in the trunk, and an AMC inflator kit is included in the sale. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features high-back bucket seats reupholstered in black vinyl accompanied by a refurbished black dashboard. Equipment includes a tri-color fold-down front center armrest as well as a split front bench seat, a two-piece dashboard fascia, a Hurst shifter, an AM radio, lap belts, and a heater/defroster.

A two-spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature.

The five-digit odometer shows 20k miles, approximately 5 of which have been added since the refurbishment.
