This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500 is one of 1,020 fastback examples produced for the model year.

The body is finished in red over a black vinyl interior, and power is provided by a 428ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission.

The 428ci V8 was rebuilt and is equipped with a four-barrel Holley carburetor, finned valve covers, an oil cooler, and a Cobra air cleaner assembly.

The starter, battery, thermostat, fan clutch, air filter, heater hoses, drive belts, distributor cap, rotor, and spark plugs and wires were replaced.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a 3.00:1 open rear differential.

The GT500 was added to the Shelby American lineup in 1967, and design changes for 1968 included revised placement of the functional hood scoops, an updated grille opening, and Thunderbird-style tail lights.

Additional features include Lucas fog lights, a ducktail rear spoiler, and air scoops on the sail panels and fenders.

The body was refinished in red.

Ten-spoke 15″ alloy wheels wear Shelby center caps and are mounted with a mixed set of Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T and BFGoodrich Comp T/A tires.

The car is equipped with Koni shocks, power steering, and power-assisted front disc brakes.

The front brake pads were replaced.

The front bucket and Sport Deck rear seats are trimmed in black vinyl, and the Interior Décor Group added Comfortweave seat inserts and woodgrain detailing on the dashboard, console, and doors.

Under-dash courtesy lights as well as illumination in the glovebox, trunk, and engine compartment were part of the Visibility Group.

Additional equipment includes a roll bar with inertia-reel seatbelts and an AM radio.

The two-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilt-away column and frames a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges.

An ammeter and oil pressure gauge are mounted ahead of the shifter.

The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles and have rolled over.
