This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500 is finished in green with white stripes over black vinyl upholstery and powered by a 428ci V8 mated to a C6 three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power steering, power front disc brakes, 15″ 10-spoke wheels, a folding rear seat, a tilt steering wheel, and a push-button AM radio. The car was refurbished, subsequent work consisted of performing an engine tuneup, replacing the tachometer and brake booster, and repainting the stripes.

The 428ci V8 features smog equipment, Cobra-script finned air cleaner lid and valve covers as well as a blue engine block and cylinder heads. An engine tune-up was performed in preparation for sale. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a C6 three-speed automatic transmission and a 9-inch rear axle.

A reproduction Shelby window sticker, Ownercard, refurbishment photo binder, and owner’s manual are included in the sale. A reproduction warranty tag and Shelby vehicle serial number tag have been installed, and the removed factory tags will accompany the car.

The GT500 model features a fiberglass ventilated hood with a ram-air scoop, a ducktail rear spoiler, and fender extensions as well as air scoops on the sail and quarter panels. The car was repainted in green with white GT500 rocker stripes. Equipment includes center-mounted Lucas fog lamps, twist hood locks, a rear quarter panel-mounted antenna, reverse lamps, and dual exhaust outlets exiting below the rear valance. The stripes were repainted in white in 2022.

Ten-spoke 15″ wheels wear Shelby Cobra center caps and are mounted with E70-15 Goodyear Speedway white-letter tires. A space-saving spare is mounted in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The brake booster have been replaced.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a fold-down rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with pleated inserts. Equipment includes a heater with a defroster, a center console, faux woodgrain trim, a roll bar, three-point front seatbelts, and a push-button AM radio.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel is fitted with a Shelby horn button and frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline. Stewart-Warner gauges indicating oil pressure and amperage are mounted beneath the center of the dashboard. The tachometer was replaced in 2022.

The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles, total mileage is unknown.
