This 1968 Plymouth GTX is a J-code hardtop coupe powered by a replacement 426ci Hemi V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a 4.10:1 Sure Grip rear end.Finished in metallic blue over black vinyl upholstery, the car has equipment including a cross-ram intake manifold, a Comp Cams camshaft, long-tube exhaust headers, a dual exhaust system, a black fiberglass hood, yellow high-beam headlamps, Magnum 500–style 15″ wheels, and a pistol-grip Hurst shifter.The replacement 426ci Hemi V8 was rebuilt in 2015–2016 by Koffel’s Place, and it was dynamometer-tested in 2016 to produce peak output figures of 649 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 584 lb-ft of torque at 5,100 rpm.The engine is equipped with the following components: Comp Cams camshaft with hydraulic lifters, Cross-ram intake manifold, Dual four-barrel Holley carburetors, K&N air cleaners, High-volume oil pump, ARP connecting-rod bolts, Wrinkle-black-painted valve covers, Aftermarket distributor, Long-tube exhaust headers, Dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers and an H-pipe.Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a Dana 60 rear end with a 4.10:1 gear ratio and a Sure Grip differential.The drivetrain was rebuilt in 2002.Finished from the factory in Midnight Blue Metallic (E), the car was repainted around 2010 and has a clearcoat.Features include a satin-black-finished fiberglass hood, yellow-tinted high-beam headlamp lenses, fender-mounted turn-signal indicators, white body-side stripes, round side-marker lights, and chrome bumpers and trim.Magnum 500–style 15″ wheels are mounted with 245/50 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.The power-assisted braking system has been replaced by an unassisted master cylinder.The cabin features black vinyl upholstery over bucket-style front seats with a fold-down center armrest and seat cushion as well as a rear bench. Woodgrain trim accents the dashboard and door panels.Equipment includes a heater, a locking glovebox, and a pistol-grip Hurst shifter.The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 150-mph speedometer and auxiliary instrumentation along with a column-mounted AutoMeter SportComp tachometer. Aftermarket AutoMeter instrumentation positioned below the dashboard displays oil pressure and water temperature.The five-digit odometer shows 22k miles, true mileage is unknown.
