This 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 was subsequently repainted Tuxedo Black. Power is supplied by a replacement 396ci V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and additional equipment includes a Positraction rear end, Flowmaster mufflers, 15” Rally-style wheels, red accent stripe graphics, power-assisted front disc brakes, a Hurst shifter, and an aftermarket stereo.
The 396ci V8 utilizes a replacement block have been sourced from a 1968 Chevrolet Impala and was built by Borchardt Speed Automotive in 2012. A safety inspection and oil change were performed in preparation for sale. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt Positraction rear axle with 3.31:1 gears. The dual exhaust system features Flowmaster mufflers and an H-pipe.
Finished from the factory in Ash Gold (G), the car was repainted Tuxedo Black during the late 1980s and features red stripe graphics on the nose and lower body. The side trim pieces have been removed and exterior features include tinted windows, chrome bumpers and side mirrors, quad headlights, and dual exhausts.
Black-painted 15” Rally-style wheels wear chrome trim rings and hubcaps and are mounted with 255/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering and power front disc brakes.
The cabin houses bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black imitation leather (766B) along with matching door panels and color-coordinated carpeting. Amenities include a Hurst shifter, a center console, front shoulder belts, crank windows, and a JVC cassette head unit linked to a trunk-mounted Polk Audio amplifier.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm roller-style tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges for voltage, fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature.
The five-digit odometer shows 26k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
