The 396ci V8 was factory equipped with an aluminum intake manifold, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, and aluminum cylinder heads for a rating of 375 horsepower when new. The engine was rebuilt in 1997, at which time it was bored .030″ over and fitted with a COMP Cams camshaft. The engine stamping is pictured. The MT suffix code corresponds with a 396ci L89 V8 for use with a manual transmission.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear end with an optional 4.56:1 Positraction differential.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl along with coordinated carpets and door panels as well as woodgrain trim on the center console. Interior appointments include a Muncie shifter, an AM radio, a heater, and lap belts.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock, while auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure are mounted to the center console.
The five-digit odometer shows 12k miles.
