The 427ci L68 V8 is equipped with three two-barrel carburetors and was factory rated at 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. A service in March 2024 included a refresh of the carburetors, a distributor repair, and the installation of a replacement battery, and service in preparation for the sale have included the replacement of the coolant hoses, the rewiring of the alternator and distributor harnesses, the rewiring and relocation of the starter wire, and an oil change.
The engine stamping is shown above. The JC suffix corresponds with a 400-horsepower, 427ci L68 V8 for use with a manual transmission. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The transmission mount and the U-joints at the transmission yoke were replaced in 2024.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature.
The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, the speedometer cable was replaced in the 1980s and total mileage is unknown.
