Optioned from the factory with a 389ci tri-power V8, the engine was reportedly modified by Wildman Pontiac in 1961 with assistance from Mickey Thompson according to the car’s original owner. Modifications include a Super Duty four-bolt main engine block that was bored .060 over as well as SD cylinder heads, connecting rods, and an aluminum intake manifold. Thompson Products pistons, a McKellar #8 camshaft, a forged steel crankshaft, Clevite bearings, a heavy-duty oil pump, and an eight-quart oil pan were also installed at that time. An oil change was performed in 2024.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed synchromesh manual transmission and a Safe-T-Track limited-slip differential with a 4.55:1 final drive. Super Duty exhaust manifolds were installed by Wildman Pontiac in 1961.
The two-tone steering wheel features a semicircular horn ring, and it frames a 120-mph speedometer, an ammeter, and a fuel-level gauge.
The five-digit odometer shows under 1,500 miles.
