The 302ci V8 was advertised at 290 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine was removed from the car, the following work was performed: Cylinders overbored, deck surfaces machined, Block stripped and refinished in PPG acrylic urethane orange, Forged high-compression pistons installed, Connecting rods, bearings, and main bolts replaced, Cylinder heads stripped and refinished, Three-angle valve job performed, Valves, springs, and guides replaced, Double-roller timing set installed, Comp Cams 30-30 camshaft installed, Holley carburetor dynamometer tuned, PerTronix ignition module installed, MSD ignition coil and spark-plug wires installed, AC Delco spark plugs installed.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed Muncie manual transmission, which was rebuilt and installed in March 2021.
A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges ahead of the shifter.
