This 1970 Ford Torino Cobra is a SportsRoof coupe that was delivered new in December 1969.The car is finished in orange over black vinyl upholstery and powered by a 429ci V8 joined to a four-speed close-ratio manual transmission.Equipment includes a Ram Air shaker hood, a four-barrel carburetor, 14” Magnum 500-style wheels, front disc brakes, rear window louvers, a Hurst T-handle shifter, and a push-button AM/FM radio with a cassette player.Work included replacing the front suspension components, rear shock absorbers, and the battery as well as converting the front brakes from drums to discs.The 429ci V8 is equipped with a shaker scoop and a four-barrel carburetor.The fuel system components have been replaced, an oil change was last performed in March 2022, and the battery was replaced in May 2023.The last six digits on the engine stamping read 125587, and the last six digits of the car’s VIN tag read 126587.Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed close-ratio manual transmission and a rear differential with a 3.50:1 gear ratio.The car left the factory finished in Calypso Coral (1) and have been refinished during the 1990s.The car features a black Tu-Tone shaker hood, exposed hood lock pins, color-keyed mirrors, chrome bumpers, rear window louvers, tinted windows, and dual exhaust outlets with bright finishers.Magnum 500-style 14” wheels are mounted with 225/70 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T white-letter tires.The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.The front brakes were converted from drums to discs and the rear shock absorbers and the front suspension bushings and related components were replaced in 2020.The bucket seats are trimmed in black vinyl and accompanied by color-coordinated door panels and carpets.Additional appointments include a Hurst T-handle shifter, a heater/defroster, a push-button AM/FM radio with a cassette player, and a “Cobra” dash badge.Scratches and cutout areas behind the radio backing plate are visible on the lower dashboard, there are chips on the lower edge of the driver door panel, and there is a tear in the vinyl on the upper left side bolster on the driver seat.A separate lower dash panel and a Philco push-button AM radio accompany the car.The two-spoke steering wheel frames a sweeping 120-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature.An aftermarket 8k-rpm tachometer is mounted on top of the steering column, and the in-dash ribbon tachometer was installed.The five-digit odometer shows 29k miles, true mileage is unknown.
