This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500 is one of 1,020 fastback examples produced for the model year and was delivered new to Paul’s Ford in Kansas City, Missouri.The car have been refurbished in 2004 with a repaint in white over replacement black vinyl upholstery.In 2015, the car was fitted with a modified 482ci V8, a Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual transmission, and a Ford Performance 31-spline limited-slip differential.Additional equipment includes Edelbrock Performer RPM cylinder heads, a Holley Double Pumper carburetor, power steering, Wilwood front brake calipers, 17″ alloy wheels, and CalTracs traction bars along with Global West suspension components, an Ididit steering column, and Magnaflow mufflers.The GT500 model was equipped with a ducktail rear spoiler, fender extensions, air scoops on the sail and quarter panels, and a fiberglass ventilated hood with a ram-air scoop.The 482ci V8 features a Pond Engineering aluminum block and was purchased as a crate engine modified by Craft Performance Engines.It was installed in March 2017 by Lou’s Cars and is equipped with the following components: Edelbrock Performer RPM cylinder heads, Diamond pistons, Mahle piston rings, Comp Cams hydraulic roller camshaft, Crane hydraulic roller lifters, T&D rockers, Holley Double Pumper 850-cfm carburetor, Edelbrock water pump, Power Master starter, Melling oil pump, MSD distributor.A March 2017 dynamometer test registered 612 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque.Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual transmission and a Ford Performance 31-spline limited-slip differential.A Mcleod flywheel, clutch disc, and pressure plate were also fitted along with Magnaflow mufflers.Removed drivetrain components accompanying the sale include a Ford FE 427 medium-rise side-oiler V8, dual Holley carburetors, and a close-ratio four-speed manual transmission.A set of four American Racing wheels as well as various spare parts are also included in the sale.This example was finished from the factory in Wimbledon White (#1619-A) and have been repainted as part of a refurbishment completed in 2004.Further exterior details include blue center and rocker stripes, amber fog lights, twist hood locks, a rear quarter panel-mounted antenna, and dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance.Silver 17″ ten-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with 275/40 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.The car is equipped with power steering, and suspension modifications include aftermarket shocks, CalTracs traction bars, and Global West upper control arms and strut rods.Braking is handled by Wilwood calipers over slotted and cross-drilled discs up front and drums out back.Service performed in April 2018 involved installing a Wilwood brake primary cylinder and replacement rear wheel cylinders.The cabin houses front bucket seats and a folding rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with textured inserts accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard and carpets.The Interior Décor Group was optioned, which added woodgrain trim, a roof console with dual map lights, an electric clock, and bright-metal trim on the foot pedals.Additional appointments include the Visibility Group, a Shelby-specific roll bar, an American Powertrain shifter, three-point front seatbelts, and a center console.A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits on an Ididit tilt column and fronts a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges.The fuel gauge does not work, and a fuel cut-off switch has been installed beneath the dash.The five-digit odometer shows 49k miles, total mileage is unknown.
