This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu has been restored as an SS396 clone.
It is powered by a 396ci V8 built to L37 375-horsepower specs, although output has not been dyno tested.
The engine is mated to a Muncie M20 four-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels through a 12-bolt Positraction rear axle.
The 396ci V8 is paired with a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission, and drive is sent to the rear wheels via a 12-bolt Positraction rear end with 3.55:1 gearing.
The engine has a 1968 casting number (3965440) and was built to L37 rather than L78 specs, with hydraulic rather than solid lifters.
The radiator is a factory big-block unit, and the front suspension has been upgraded to F41 specs.
A Holley 750cfm Ultra Double Pumper carburetor with an electric choke, a Powermaster Torque starter, and a FAST XDi HEI distributor were installed in September 2018, as was a new clutch, heater core, spark plugs, and hoses.
The exhaust system features Sanderson ceramic headers and Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow mufflers.
Bodywork and paint were done by Bernt Karlsson and included replacing the rear quarter panels.
A color change from Chevrolet Nantucket Blue (paint code D) to Marina Blue (F) was done using a DuPont two-stage process.
The bumpers also were replaced and the trim pieces refurbished.
A white convertible top is equipped.
Chevrolet SS Rally 14″ wheels feature new trim rings and center hubs.
They are wrapped with BFGoodrich white-letter tires.
The interior was redone in Bright Blue with a kit from Legendary Auto Interiors and includes a matching boot cover and new GM lap belts.
A Hurst shifter stirs the four-speed manual transmission, and the center console also includes a clock.
Factory air conditioning is present, a feature that was not optioned on any of the 612 factory-built 1967 SS396/375 Chevelles.
A steering wheel with a rosewood rim fronts a dash with SS gauges including a blinker tachometer.
A Retro Sound digital AM/FM/Bluetooth/USB head unit has been installed, with speakers located in the kick panels.
The five-digit odometer now shows 17k miles, true mileage is unknown.
