Power comes from a normally-aspirated 289ci V8 mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, and the car was ordered with power steering, power windows, lap belts, a radio, and a rear speaker.

The R1 289ci Jet Thrust V8 featured 10.25:1 compression, a forged crankshaft and connecting rods, and a Carter 4-barrel carburetor for a rating of 240 horsepower when new.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through an optional Borg-Warner T-10A 4-speed manual transmission.

Avanti bodies were made of fiberglass and initially produced by the Molded Fiberglass Body Company in Ashtabula, Ohio, before production was moved in-house.

This example is finished in Avanti Red, circular headlamp bezels would be switched over to square versions in August 1963.

Stamped steel 15″ wheels wear decorative 5-spoke covers and are fitted with older Firestone whitewall radials.

Bucket seats are finished in black Regal vinyl upholstery and accented by red carpets and a fawn padded dash.

Notable features include aircraft-inspired overhead rocker switches for cabin lighting and fan speed, a pull-out vanity mirror housed within the glovebox, and a structural roll bar incorporated into the B-pillar.

Just under 57k miles are indicated on the 5-digit odometer.
