This 1960 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite was completely restored in 2016.The 948cc inline-four cylinder was rebuilt with .060” over flat-top pistons and a mild street cam.Underneath the hood lies the original 948cc inline-four that has been rebuilt with .060” over flat-top pistons and a mild street cam.A complete head refurbishment by a respected Austin-Healey mechanic was commissioned and included all new valves, seats, guides, seals, and springs, as well as custom porting and polishing of the head and intake manifold.The crank was Speedi Sleeved and a new front seal was installed.The original 1 1/8” SU carburetors were rebuilt at the time of the engine rebuild approximately 10k miles ago.Both the fuel tank and fuel lines were replaced, and the mechanical fuel pump was rebuilt. A new wiring harness has also been installed, and the generator was rebuilt with a new front bearing, brushes, and a refurbished armature.Advanced Distributors rebuilt the distributor, and all of the associated ignition components were replaced.The engine was last serviced in March 2023 with an oil/filter change.The 4-speed manual transmission was also rebuilt, and the fuel, ignition, electrical, and cooling systems were replaced or refurbished with quality US or British made repair kits.The 4-speed manual transmission is the original smooth case unit with a new layshaft and bearings installed.All of the gaskets and the rear seal were replaced.The front cover has a modern neoprene oil seal retrofitted.The driveshaft has new U-joints, and the differential was Speedi Sleeved and a new pinion seal was installed.The front A-arms, springs, rear axle housing, brake drums, heater box, and inner fender braces were powdercoated black during the restoration.Front dampers were replaced and the rear dampers were serviced.New swivel axle/ Kingpin repair kits were installed, though the current swivel axle bushings were in great shape and retained.Later Spridget disc brakes with new pads have replaced the original front drums.The 3/4″ bore dual master cylinder has been re-sleeved in stainless steel by Karp’s Brake Service, and the brake lines were replaced with a Cunifer copper/nickel replacement kit purchased from AH Spares in England.Rear drums have been turned and new shoes were installed, while the rear wheel cylinders were rebuilt.The car was completely disassembled and stripped of all paint.Several body panels were repaired with patch panels purchased from AH Spares and Moss Motors.Care was exercised during the body repair to prevent the use of excess body fillers.The panels and repairs were properly butt welded and the seams were filled with auto body solder.Body panels replaced during the process included the following: Forward lower quarter panels, Rear lower quarter panels, Inner rear quarter panel closeouts, Rear wheel arches, Inner and outer rocker panels, Driver’s side complete floor panel (passenger side was repaired), Left and right bonnet aft lower sections, Inside bonnet stiffeners including center hinge mount stiffener, Bonnet valance locking assembly mount, A-post skins and lower hinge boxes, Complete spring box assembly including shut plate, inner rear bulkhead, damper supports, spring base plates, rear bulkhead strengtheners, and floor strengtheners, Both lateral crossmember (jack points).A repaint in factory Leaf Green using acrylic urethane single stage paint was performed after the bodywork was completed.A Robbins soft top comes with the car along with a set of non-original side curtains and tonneau cover.The chrome bumpers and grille were left as-is during the restoration, and the original front bumper is included.The black interior features recently refurbished side panels and dash, also seats were reupholstered.A wooden-rimmed steering wheel is a newer 15” Moto Lita unit.Flooring consists of AAMCO style mats with aluminum ribbed frame covers, and the tunnel has been carpeted. A new Hardura Mat was added to the rear bulkhead and trunk area.The five-digit odometer shows 8,202 miles, though true mileage is unknown.
